2m On Quantock Hills
Great afternoon on 2m from Cothelstone Hill – Quantock Hills, near Taunton. The view from the hill was fantastic—overlooking Hinkley Point to the north and Staple Hill to the south. Great conditions, great contacts, and a cracking afternoon on the air.
Had a brilliant session, using my Anytone D878UV handheld and a tactical antenna. Worked several stations across a good spread of the country on 145.475 MHz simplex.
Contacts included: G6ASK – John G4JBW – Dave G1PHN – Mick M3MYM – David (Wells) …and a few others from Wales and beyond who I caught before I could get them in the log.
Really pleased with the range—worked stations from Dartmouth up to Shropshire. Got a 5.3 signal report into Shropshire, which is an excellent result for a handheld setup!
